Collaborators: Embassy of Finland, EU Delegate in Zambia, The Ministry of Education, Alumni Network of Erasmus Plus Scholarship Event Description: To celebrate ErasmusDays 2024, Inclusive Education for Sustainable Development IESD in Partnership with The University of Zambia is organizing a special event in Lusaka, Zambia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Embassy of Finland, the EU Delegate in Zambia, and the Erasmus Plus Alumni Network. This event will showcase the impact of the Erasmus Plus program on education, development, and international collaboration in Zambia. Event Objectives: Highlighting Success Stories: Share inspiring stories of Erasmus Plus beneficiaries who have made significant contributions to Zambia’s educational and developmental sectors. Promoting Opportunities: Provide information on Erasmus Plus scholarships and programs, encouraging more Zambians to apply and benefit from international educational experiences. Strengthening Networks: Facilitate networking opportunities among Erasmus Plus alumni, current students, and potential applicants, fostering a supportive community. Celebrating Partnerships: Acknowledge and celebrate the strong partnerships between Zambia, Finland, and the EU countries in promoting inclusive education and sustainable development. Proposed Activities: Opening Ceremony: Welcome address by the University of Zambia International Link Director, Keynote speeches by representatives from the Embassy of Finland, the EU Delegate in Zambia, the University of Zambia, the Ministry of Education and the Erasmus Plus Alumni Network. Panel Discussion: Topic: “The Role of Erasmus Plus in Advancing Inclusive Education and Sustainable Development in Zambia.” Panelists: Erasmus Plus alumni, education experts, and representatives from partner organizations. Interactive Workshops: Workshop 1: “Applying for Erasmus Plus Scholarships: Tips and Success Stories.” Workshop 2: “Innovative Approaches to Inclusive Education in Zambia.” Networking Session: An opportunity for attendees to connect, share experiences, and explore potential collaborations. Exhibition Booths: Information booths showcasing Erasmus Plus programs, success stories, and partner organizations. Cultural Performances: Featuring traditional Zambian music and dance to celebrate cultural diversity and international collaboration. Expected Outcomes: Increased awareness and interest in Erasmus Plus programs among Zambians. Strengthened relationships between Zambian and European educational institutions. Enhanced community of Erasmus Plus alumni in Zambia, fostering collaboration and support. Promotion of inclusive education and sustainable development initiatives in Zambia. Interact, Network, and Engage: Connect with fellow students, faculty, and alumni, and build new connections and collaborations. Insights into Erasmus+ resources, programs, and services aimed at enhancing educational experiences in Europe. Interact with Erasmus+ advisors to gain valuable guidance and support for academic and professional growth to prospective Erasmus+ students. Strengthen the network between Erasmus+ beneficiaries, the EU Delegation, and the Finnish Embassy in Zambia. Proposed Activities: Opening Ceremony: Welcome speech by the University of Zambia International Link Office Speech by EU Ambassador or Ambassador of Finland to Zambia. Address by the EU Erasmus+ officer in Zambia. Speech by the Ministry of Education. Keynote speech by an Erasmus+ alumnus from the University of Helsinki. Panel Discussions: Topic 1: “The Role of Erasmus+ in Enhancing Education and Skills Development.” Topic 2: “Erasmus+ Alumni Contributions to Sustainable Development in Zambia.” Workshops: Workshop 1: “How to Apply for Erasmus+ Scholarships.” Workshop 2: “Maximizing Your Erasmus+ Experience.” Networking Session: Networking opportunities for current and prospective Erasmus+ students and alumni. Booths for information dissemination by the EU Delegation, Finnish Embassy, and IESD. Cultural Performances: Showcasing Zambian culture and Finnish cultural exchange experiences. Closing Ceremony: Summary of key points discussed. Closing remarks by the University of Zambia International Link Director. Event Timeline: June-July: Initial planning and coordination with partners. Drafting of the event proposal and budget. Setting up the organizing committee. August: Confirmation of speakers and workshop facilitators. Finalizing the event program. Initial outreach to Erasmus+ alumni for participation. September: Promotion and registration for the event. Coordination with the venue for logistics. Finalizing materials and resources for workshops and panels. October: Final promotion push. Rehearsals and final checks. Event day execution. Post-event evaluation and reporting. Budget Estimate: Venue Rental: $2,500 Catering: $4,500 Transportation for Speakers and Participants: $2000 Promotional Materials (flyers, banners, online aan): $1500 Event Management and Coordination: $2,200 Workshop Materials and Media coverage: $3, 000 Miscellaneous (contingency fund): $500 Total Estimated Budget: $16,200.
