ERASMUS DAYS: CELEBRATING FREEDOM Commemorating the Velvet Revolution – 17th November 1989 Join us as we honor the historic Velvet Revolution, a peaceful uprising that led to the fall of communism in Czechoslovakia and marked a turning point in the fight for freedom and democracy. Time: 17th and 18th October 2024 Event Highlights: Documentary Screening Watch a powerful documentary that takes you back to the streets of Prague in 1989 Panel Discussion Join us for an insightful panel discussion with historians, activists, and students as they explore the significance of the Velvet Revolution and its impact on the present day. Art Exhibition Discover the role of art in the revolution with an exhibition showcasing posters, photographs, and other artworks created during and inspired by the Velvet Revolution. Live Music Performance Enjoy a live performance featuring music that became the soundtrack of the revolution, celebrating the spirit of resistance and hope. Candlelight Vigil Conclude the day with a solemn candlelight vigil, paying tribute to the brave individuals who stood up for freedom and democracy.
