Veliki Gaber Elementary school

We will be visited by a professor from the Faculty of Education in Iceland, who trains subject teachers in outdoor education in Iceland. She will introduce us to team teaching, experiential learning, cooperative learning, project-based learning, learning by moving and other new approaches that are used and effective in their country. She will give practical demonstrations and workshops where teachers learn about new approaches and methods for working outdoors with students. We will present our achievements in outdoor learning to the expert and get her perspective on this type of teaching. She will explain their challenges and present possible solutions to them. We will present our challenges to her and ask her for her suggestions for solutions. The discussion will be a means to test the existing approaches and find solutions for introducing new ones. We foresee 10 days of integrated learning for the whole team, and we will invite team members from neighbouring schools to join us. This way of teaching will move the staff towards a more open and active way of thinking and acting, contributing to sustainability, protection and respect for the natural and other assets in the local environment that we have at our disposal and can use as a resource for learning.
